Marine Services.
In addition to making drawing and providing commissioning services for shipyards, we also do basic engineering which ship owners may use for their own business.
Due to our long experience in Gas Ships, we may provide designs for all kinds of ships from the smaller pressurized LPG coastal ships via medium sized semi-refrigerated gas carriers to the larger fully refrigerated LPG/NH3 ship for overseas transportation.
One interesting gas carrier type is the smaller LNG ships which may serve as regional gas carriers for peak shaving and distribution to places outside the gas grid.
So far there is only two such ships in operation with two more to come in 2008. But as regional spot markets seem to be developing, there will emerge a market for this type of ships too.
Many systems used in the marine industry are applicable also in land based industry. Typically, fuel systems, heating and cooling systems, power distribution systems and sanitary systems.
With our background in gas ships, we have the cutting edge know how in gas handling systems, which also may be used as alternative fuel systems to lessen the cost of fuel and decrease carbon emissions.
Vann Tech Corporation is now actively engaged in downstream liquid faction of natural gas and bio gas to be distributed and sold as LNG and LBG respectively. Basically consisting of methane, both products are emitting less carbon than any other alternative fuels and have a higher calorific value. Only LBG, however, is considered renewable energy.
In an industrial setting, LNG and LBG will compete with LPG and fuel oil, and with a potential to reduce fuel costs significantly
This temperature scale indicate the condensing temperature of various gases at atmospheric pressure.
If pressurized, the condensing temperature will increase, and all LPG types can be condensed at ambient temperature
However, ethan, ethylene and methane need all to be cooled to be condensed, and the heat of evaporation removed.
In order to do that, one need to have a coolant that can remove the heat at a lower temperature.
The most common is to use a cascade system with multiple refrigerants, for instant propane and ethylene to condense methane.
